The Venus Project

So I was messing around on Google Maps earlier today, looking around my home area to find places of interest I might like to visit and I came across this spot, just about 30 miles south on Rt. 27 here in Highlands County, that seems to be the epitome of quirky Florida.

Checking out the website for this place, I think I accidentally stumbled on the ultimate solution to our whole world's problems...especially right now. And who knew the answer was enshrined so close to home?

The Venus Project appears to be the homestead of a true visionary. Jacque Fresco lived to the ripe old age of 101 and though he died three years ago, his vision for the future of mankind seems like something out of science fiction. Disney imagined E.P.C.O.T., which I talk about in this post showcasing my Planet Coaster model of his concept, and Elon Musk now blazes new trails for mankind in our present with similar high tech solutions for society. Jacque Fresco seems to have taken the vision of Disney and the engineering of Musk and blends the two. But get this...he started his Journey into the Imagination decades before!

This short documentary should paint the picture. The filmmaker's long-winded intro and over-animated enthusiasm is a bit cringy but every on-screen interview we see with Mr. Fresco rings bold and true. With his passing, is it too late for the world? Will we ever make real strides to commence the Brave New Age of Resource-Based living? Let's hope there's still a chance. 'Cause we know the way it is right now is very broken indeed and we need start all over with a fresh new plan.
