I have no idea why I'd never heard of this movie before yesterday. It suddenly appeared as a new upload in my Primetime Movies For You selection on YouTube last night and I saw it starred Zach Galifianakis and Will Ferrell from 2012. The movie's called The Campaign and it's all about two candidates for congress in a North Carolina district engaging in highly combative dirty politics in order to win an election essentially while under the behind-the-scenes manipulation of a pair of billionaire brothers that have designs on selling out the district to China for the sake of selfish profits. It's freakin' hilarious! Probably the most crazy thing about it all is that the outrageous antics and over-the-top tactics employed were done, in the film, as farce and parody for comic effect, but fast forward now to today's political atmosphere and, well, it's just fucking everyday business! Surely this is why it was added to the line up at YouTube. It's a perfect example of how low we've sunk. And I for one am here to sit back in my recliner and belly laugh to the whole thing.
