So there's this dude on YouTube, and I'm sure other socials like TikTok and Instagram, that does vlogs focusing on his intense enthusiasm for locomotives. He's out of England and follows trains there primarily, but ventures abroad as well, like here, in the pic above, where he's visiting the US to see some of the big steam engines currently rolling about the countryside including Big Boy, the largest steam locomotive in current operation.
There are a lot of these geeky, hyper-intense hobbyist vlogs, many on trains and other vehicles that fascinated us as kids like fire trucks and military craft, but some even on such odd conveyances such as garbage trucks and elevators. And yes, almost all of them are produced and usually hosted by someone at least partially on the spectrum. As someone who worked in the biz for years, I know these themes are a big thing with people with autism.
And this guy's no exception. He's quite, as we used to say, "high-functioning" though, and seems "normal" otherwise, yet, get him going when describing trains or, especially, as seen in the photo above, near an especially loud and boisterous one blowing its horn, oh man, this kid is the epitome of STIMMED! And it's a great thing to see. You can't help but grin from ear to ear as he is. I actually tear up with empathetic glee feeling his pure, unadulterated joy beaming through the monitor! It's instant "Choo Choo Cheerio!"
