The Whitest Kids U' Binge

I'd heard about this show before but until this week, I hadn't seen it available for streaming. Now I find it's on YouTube, apparently all seasons of it, so I'm off to Hilarious Town.

This aughts-era sketch comedy show is reminiscent of Kids in the Hall and other all-male troupe comedy groups with all sorts of absurdist and practical effects (read slapstick) jokes but it's also very smart and has definite genesis of the creative talents of this group of young white dudes who would all have been well worthy of SNL caliber. Sadly, I don't think any of them really made it "big" in tradition media, their TV show "The Whitest Kids U' Know" having been broadcast on only cable TV networks and reaching a rather meager viewership, likely due in large part for that reason. I know, for instance, I'd never heard of them at the time. Of course, that's right around the time I "cut the cord" too so there's that... Their biggest talent, in my opinion, was Trevor Moore who had the most likely avenue to eventually "making it" bigger, but sadly he lost his life sometime a few years back in a falling accident.

I'm only three episodes in and already I'm hooked. So far my favorites are the song in, I think the first episode where Trevor sings "Get A New Daddy" to kids on how they can get rid of their father if they want to try out a new one by framing them for child rape, "Movie Pitching Guy" where Trevor plays a dude barging into an executive's meeting at a movie studio and starts pitching totally crazy movie ideas at breakneck speed and this skit, pictured above, "Astronaut Mess" where a space shuttle pilot decides to open up all sorts of pre-launch snacks accidentally allowing them to spill on himself and his fellow astronauts.

With this last skit, I can't help but think of the recent toilet malfunction on the Artemis mission and, even though we saw the crew clean and tidy, maybe, for a while there, shit literally looked, like in the pic above, well, like... shit!

EDIT: Holy fuck! I posted a little too soon...

Literally the very next skit after the astronaut thing was "Trevor Talks to Kids" where he goes to what looks like a real classroom with like really little kids, like maybe first graders or something, and he tells them he works in TV and in comedy, asks who is the class clown and stuff then one kid says, "I want to be an astronaut." and Trevor says "Great, maybe you could be the first person to walk on the moon." and one of the other kids says "No, that's already been done." to which Trevor, in all seriousness replies, it was fake. The he goes into ALL the conspiracies... with posterboard graphics... including 9/11 and the then-president Bush masturbating in front of his father in the Skull and Bones initiation at Yale (well, no posters for this) and the kids faces are like "Whaaaat?!" Oh man, this show is my cup of tea!
