So back in this post, I welcomed y'all to my newly-founded base I named "Island of Pleasant Dreams" on the planet I'd just discovered, Ivian, in the Myankang System in the Euclid Galaxy in the game, No Man's Sky. I beamed on how tickled pink I was at finding this planet, a rarity in the game, in that it had, for all intents and purposes, an almost Earthlike environment. Now it does get a bit hot (like in the hundreds during the day) but the grass is green, the water's blue and, well, the sky is yellow. Two outta three ain't bad. Now to be honest, I haven't really been back in the game much since this last time. After putting some finishing touches on my base and taking the snapshots for the post, I neglected to even bother to look at anything else in the rest of the star system since this, by total chance, was the first planet I chose to scan and land on when I jumped into the system.
Since Artemis though, I got the space exploration fever, and I dove back in today. I finished scanning and landing on each planet as you can see above. (In the game, you only get credit for the discovery of the planet if you land on it) But it wasn't without a bit of drama. In fact, right now, I'm actually a bit stranded on the far planet, a rocky waste called Oriadus Beta. (Well, I call it the far planet but as you can see in the image above, the orientation of the planets and their orbits around the star are not entirely very clear, both here and when in your ship traveling amongst them. That's how NMS is.) I'm "stuck" because I ran out of fuel for my Pulse Drive. That's the "impulse drive," if it were Star Trek, that gets you around planets, but not the "warp drive" that gets you from star to star. So I only have thrusters, which is the slowest speed drive. For example, below you'll see I am kinda near Oriadus Beta and with my usual Pulse Drive, I'd be there from this distance in about 15 seconds. See the HUD tells me it would just about 24 minutes. (But actually it's only about 3 and a half since I can and did use a boost to my thrusters but I had to suspend that momentarily to take this screenshot since you can't use [Boosters=Left Shift+W] while pressing [PRTSCR] simultaneously)
No worries, I'm sure I'll find the elements I need to refuel my Pulse Engines on the surface of the planet... somewhere. Slowing down while traveling does allow you to find things you'd otherwise overlook though like this asteroid field rich in valuable resources.
Oh, by the way, I just now checked it out and discovered that the fuel I need for my Pulse Engines is Tritium, the shit I found in the asteroids I was blasting so I guess i have the fuel after all. The stupid game doesn't automatically refuel my ship, I guess I have to. Duh.
Check out these awesome shots from my journeys around my new system. We'll go in reverse order back to my home base:

There's been an update, I guess, to the game where the space stations (there's one in every system I think) are improved to look a bit more "space station-y":
Here's a selfie I took onboard the station near my docked ship "The Firefly."
After I refuel, I'll probably check out the planets with a little more in-depth look discovering (and getting credit for) all the flora, fauna and minerals I can 'till I get bored of that, then I guess I'll make tracks for a while. There's a lost more galaxy out there.
Here's a look at my current location in my local region galaxy map...
And here's my origin system, Asimov, way over to the right...
Thank goodness at least my ship's toilet works.
