This image, a photo of the front of my replica concert tee depicting the graphic album cover of the B-52's Mesopotamia. The original design, purposely made to simulate the look of our band members and various other motifs as hieroglyphics on an ancient tablet of some sort, was, when purchased, much brighter and more uniformly screen-printed on the cotton t-shirt front. Now, with the wear and tear of many years, its screen-print inks have faded and crumbled, much more resembling an ancient artifact after all.
Oh look, I found a pic of me wearing this t-shirt six years ago. It looked much fresher then:
EDIT: This post got me meanderin' down that familiar memory lane again regarding the B-52's. Here's a reddit post featuring a clip from their first appearance on SNL on January 26, 1980. This was the first time I'd seen or heard them. I was 15. And I was mesmerized.
Oh, BTW, I also ordered a new t-shirt since the current one is about to be retired. I'll always have a B-52's component to my wardrobe.
