Yes, More From The Vault, Okay?!

What can I say. I get like this. A decade a game sits on my Steam account, occasionally getting downloaded, played for a bit, then deleted to make room for something else (a terabyte goes quick, baby), rinse and repeat over the years. And periodically, there'll be bursts of deep dives like this where I spend every waking hour in front of my computer playing one single game non-stop. Well, the cold snap we're having here contributes a bit too since I don't want to leave the only room in my house with heat.

I worked a bit more on the bar/lounge Atrium and even had an IPA or two IRL, triggered by the image of this swanky joint.

I've read in the Fallout forums about the pathing issues and, in particular, the especially quirky behavior of the NPCs here in Vault 88. For me, it seems that many of them have started to spend what would normally be their sleep time up here on the platform out in front of Research. Very creepy. They just stand there, shifting in place every now and then but, unlike during normal waketime hours, absolutely mute. Now that I think about it, kinda refreshing...

Here's the main directional signage off of the front entrance screening area. Alphabetical and oriented to indicate if the location is Atrium-adjacent or not.

One of the two lavatories I finally built. I'm sure their bladders thank me.

As you can see, because of that very near-to-limit build cap, the bedrooms are still quite spartan. Oh well, no matter what with most of 'em being Night of the Living Dead up on the walkway.

The Rec Room again. Here I have the radio playing those Diamond City Radio oldies and IRL I'm literally waking up each morning humming shit like "It's a Man!" and "Crawl Out Through the Fallout" and, of course, the iconic Fallout Inkspots tune "Maybe."

So I was busy building last night when I heard a big boom and some of my settlers were scurrying about. Sure enough, we had been attacked by raiders. Two of them were killed by the machine gun turrets up front but not before one of them took one of the turrets out with a missile. Four others had somehow managed to make it around the outside of the vault and I hunted them down and killed them. One of my settlers must have dispatched one that amazingly got inside and made their way almost to the Atrium since I found their body lying there. That's it, I needed to beef up the defenses.

Here's the view from the workshop (which I call "Maintenance") towards the main vault entrance. You can see I've placed construction barricades and walls to provide added protection and to slow down any interlopers so my well-armed (yes, my settlers are all packing heat) NPCs can take 'em out.

Well that's it for today. Stay tuned for more reports from the depths below what was once known as Quincy. IRL, I used to know Quincy well, having been there many times. I wouldn't want to be there IRL right now. They probably have snow on the ground and are freezing their ever lovin' fucking nuts off no amount of Dunkin' Donuts coffee is gonna warm up. Faaawk Thaaat!
