Have you heard about this thing? It's not your usual comet. It doesn't come from, like most of our ordinary, run-of-the-mill comets, the Oort Cloud. It comes from somewhere else. Where? Way out there, that's where. Way beyond our solar system.
It doesn't look or act right either.
I mean, read the link here. It's the latest post regarding the newest observations of one of the leading astrophysicists tracking this thing. As far as I can tell, he's basically the only one "telling it like it is." Why? I'm not sure.
Look at some of the weird facts about this thing:
It sped up unexpectedly and because of it, it should have this huge tail indicating a large ejection of its mass that gassed off due to the sun's effect on it, but it doesn't. So what made it speed up?
He writes: Its arrival time was fine-tuned to bring it within tens of millions of kilometers from Mars, Venus and Jupiter and be unobservable from Earth at perihelion, with a likelihood of 0.005%. Is it hiding from us?
Near perihelion, it brightened faster than any known comet and was bluer than the Sun. He doesn't explain why, maybe no one knows why?
Its retrograde trajectory is aligned to within 5 degrees with the ecliptic plane of the planets around the Sun, with a likelihood of 0.2% So I read about this before. From what I gather, this means the "comet" is basically flying in a similar plane as (most of) the rest of the planets in the solar solar system...by coincidence?! Remember, this thing's from another star system. There's no reason to think it should in any way line up with our planetary orbits around our sun, unless it was designed to do so.
It arrived from a direction coincident with the radio “Wow! Signal” to within 9 degrees, with a likelihood of 0.6%. The "Wow! Signal" is the unexplained radio "message" that the Ohio State University's "Big Ear" radio telescope picked up in the 1970s as part of the SETI program, for a brief instance which seemed to indicate that there may be "beings" beaming radio messages from somewhere "out there." Unfortunately, it could never be confirmed or replicated so it remains one of those mysteries. Is this...from "them?"
Now our freakin' luck would be if it is a benevolent extraterrestrial intelligence and they land here, in America and state matter-of-factly, the age old standard alien greeting -- "Take Me To Your Leader." Fucking Trump'd sick ICE on 'em.
