I'm Old Enough To Remember

What'll the iconic song's refrain be this go-round -- "Four dead in Chicago?" I think we're up to one so far from last month by ICE, with another injury today to a civilian protestor by the National Guard.

Yep. Here we go again. Nation in turmoil.

Back then, the famous shooting of unarmed student protestors on the campus of Kent State University in Ohio was a watershed moment that made the nation take pause. The shit going on in not just one location but several all across the country, not like back in 1970 when there could be some semi-tacit justification to "keep the peace" in the face of growing protests, but now, the apparent justification is even weaker -- to root out "criminals" wherever, and whoever, they may be, in municipalities run by Democratic governments. I forget, is it Democrats with a capital "D" that Trump fears or democratic ideals with a small "d?"

Don't believe I lived in fear of the shit going down during the turmoil around the latter-days of the Vietnam War pushback here in the US? Here's my account right here. And, for old time sake, let's fire up a doobie and kick it to some good ol' CSN&Y whadya say?

Tin soldiers and Trump is callin'
We're finally on our own
This autumn I hear the drummin'
Four dead in Chicago
Gotta get down to it, soldiers are cutting us down
Shoulda been gone long ago
