And Baby Makes Three

Yes, I, a noted hater of cell phones, have just bought a brand new one bringing my total number of existing, working smartphones to three.

There were a few factors involved but the main one is simply -- WYZE made me do it!

A while back, they upgraded their app and excluded all 32-bit smartphone devices from being able to use it. There must be some back door deal somewhere as to why this is because on the front of it, for the economy security cam people to embrace a philosophy of exclusivity and elitism, well it just seems unfair. So unless I wanted my security cameras to slowly but surely become more and more obsolete with me unable to make any adjustments and firmware upgrades, plus, the added pain in the ass of being relegated to only web view, even from my phone, I either had to use outdated versions of the WYZE app installing that with shit called "APK" software which I know nothing about and looked extremely dubious when I attempted to use it -- nah y'all, I'll just get a new phone.

It was time anyway. My Moto G Play was getting tiresome and I'm not married to my Xfinity monthly cell plan so fuck it. I browsed around and found what I think looks like a pretty good deal.

Straight Talk Wireless -- yeah I know, basically one step away from Consumer Cellular or Cricket, the cellular plans for the crotchety old folks. The Walmart.com page for cell phone deals had a Samsung Galaxy A15, tied to this service, at just $39.88 plus tax! Brand-new -- not refurbished. Through the Straight Talk website I ordered the sim card starter package and the $25/mo. Bring Your Own Phone plan. Now, the sim card hasn't arrived yet and there was already a little tad bit of confusion over the order already which prompted me to call their worthless customer service so we'll see how this all goes in a day or so when I make -- The Conversion. The modern-day technological equivalent to converting your religion -- changing out phones and cell carriers at the same time -- oh lordy!

So for a budget phone, and at this price point, I do mean budget, I think I get a better bang for my buck than what I got with my two previous, nay,  four previous smartphones, especially if we count the Windows Nokia phone (oh never mind, no one wants to remember the Windows phones anymore), in any event...I think I done good!

Here are the specs:
