Trump Has Pinky Benson Syndrome

More horrible embellishments in the Oval Office. Even those scallop-shaped arch accents on the tops of the inset bookshelves have been painted gold. And of course His Tackiness' "decorations" of the White House has gone so far to erect two over-sized (compensating) flagpoles on the north and south laws, paved over much of the Rose Garden and soon a big ol' ballroom festooned with more gold and marble embellishments. And is our economy so robust and boastful in surplus to even suggest that our supposed leadership should be so ostentatious?

All this progressive building up, week after week of gold medallions and gold paint-overs makes me think of that scene in "What A Way To Go" when Shirley MacLaine's character sees her newest husband Pinky's fame start to progressively take over his mind and he becomes obsessive about everything being pink -- to please his fans.

Watch the clip below from that movie and perhaps, eventually, Trump will get the same ending. Not from a jubilantly ecstatic mob but an angry bitter one.

EDIT: Memories of "What A Way To Go" got me hankerin' to see it again...it's free on YouTube. I forgot that the movie opens with this shot, screen cap below, of the widow Louisa May walking slowly down the staircase of her pink mansion after Pinky's demise. It's a framing device showing her in "the present" as she soon thereafter shows up at the offices of the IRS wanting to give away her fortune of $211,586,000.79 for which she's sent to a psychiatrist to relay the flashback events of the majority of the film -- her life "cursed" with picking suiters and marrying them only to have their idealistic, humble dreams of settling in to a simple family life with her thwarted by a sudden stroke of incredible financial boon, warping them into money-focused douchebags.

No doubt we can imagine this picture to be representative of our future as Melania descends the stairs in a White House covered not in pink, but gold. But will we be in mourning then? Or celebration of a curse we as a nation have finally shrugged off?
