Senseless Cents, Moronic Mills And Krazy Kilobytes

So what does a person who lived his life hating both math and his work experience as a customer service rep watch? A half hour video detailing a very frustrating customer service call between a customer and several escalation reps at Verizon over the customers bill.

It's fun to think about the cold sweat I'd be having if I got this call. It harkens back to the years when I actually was a rep at a third party vendor servicing AT&T Wireless and Cingular accounts. I did get complaint calls regarding international roaming charges but luckily all my customers were much stupider than me and were totally wrong.

I guess if this guy were my customer though and his issue were foisted on me, I'd resort to my "confuse them 'till they hang up" tactic. I'd just start a lot of mumbo jumbo bullshit math concepts including breaking things down into the fractions of a penny units known as mills and trying to also define and quantify kilobytes into the equation even though it realistically has no place in there in my best attempt to make the customer think I was either an absolute moron or a stark raving lunatic. It might have worked. Meh. At least I would have had a good chuckle about it later.

In my experience with my companies though, this guy would have gotten a courtesy credit after one escalation even if "we" thought he was wrong, just to shut him up. I guess Verizon was cheap as fuck back then.
