Since my Apple TV + subscription ended I decided I'd pick up another premium subscription and I was debating Max since it had quite a few offerings that seemed tasty like the movie I mentioned in my last post Civil War.
Of course it also had a series I had my eye on for quite a while. Not only had I been interested in the TV show but the video game series that inspired it: The Last of Us.
For years I envied PlayStation players since that game was exclusive only to that console and I hadn't even realized that it and its sequel we're now available for Windows but alas they are at a hefty AAA price so I'll be thinking twice about plunking down some cash for that especially since I've been a little spendthrift in my video game budget lately.
But a $17 a month subscription to Max seemed quite worthy and man this series did not disappoint. It seems that I joined just at the right time too.
Like my frustrations with not being able to play the game for many years, I also struggled with the fact that since the HBO TV series came out a couple years ago, I hadn't been able to log on to any forums, subreddits, or YouTube reviews about it since I didn't want to get infected with accidental spoilers (pun intended).
I've been watching non-stop for eleven or so hours consuming the entire first season and just finished the newly-released episode 2 of season 2 at six in the morning. I can't wait to dive into all the social media which I'm sure has been buzzing about this since it had to be not only one of the most intense episodes in terms of graphic battle scenes but also a great big dramatic moment in that it is the final episode for one of the key players, Joel, the father figure to Ellie, a young girl who he is escorting across the country because she is immune to the cordyceps infection (I know, hasn't this plot point been used before in post-apocalyptic movies the savior child that has the cure for everything that has gone wrong?)
Pedro Pascal is amazing in this show and I'm not sure how the show will go on without him. But I'll hang through. The season ends May 25th so that means I'll be buying at least one more month of a Max subscription to watch each weekly episode from here on out for the remainder of this season. Oh well, more chances for me to see such lovely faces like the one above.
