Rediscovering Sims 3

So I was reading a Reddit post that compared a graphic screenshot of a neighborhood in Sims 3 with Sims 4 and it's hilarious. Sims 4 totally went in another direction and abandon the whole concept of an open world integrated neighborhood where your sim could wander around and explore in favor of a more home-based experience. I get it. But it's hilarious to see the big difference when looking at screenshots side by side. I mean look at the city in the screen capture above. This is so different from Sims 4. And you know, I was playing for a few hours today and it all came rushing back the number of endless hours on hours that I used to play this game. Now that's not saying I haven't played Sims 4 for hours and hours on end as well, but these older Sims just hit hard with that nostalgia. The graphics really aren't that dated either when you consider how old it is. And, due to the fact that my rather budget PC today would have been considered an incredible top-shelf dream machine back in 2009, and unbelievably superpowered Titan costing the then equivalent of probably $10,000 if the technology was even available, I can now run this game at full screaming graphics without my computer even cracking the slightest sweat.

My high-rise studio apartment. Note the totally self-created custom funky colors and patterns on furnishings...oh how I miss the create a pallette thingy. My Sim is a musician and here he's practicing his mad hip-hop skillz on the guitar.

I feel like I've gone so far with this game series over the decades, both forward and now, I guess, nostalgically backwards. Hopefully not this far backwards though.
