As you can see from the news footage below, the area near Ric was hit by a tornado just a few hours ago causing some scary damage. So far, luckily, no reported casualties. This, of course, was my old neck of the woods back in the day both when I lived with Ric at Sun Lake, then his condo where he still is and later when I moved to the tiny house on South High Street. Six years I lived in Lake Mary.
Anyway, apparently the path of tornado activity looks like it was making a near beeline for Ric's place indicated by the yellow circle #4. #1 was a neighborhood off the tawny Markham Woods Road area of nearby Longwood where the tornado especially hit one house really hard totally destroying it. #2 is the Orlando area Fox 25 News station which took a direct hit while they were broadcasting sustaining some good amount of exterior damage to the building and surroundings. #3 was an 18-wheeler semi that was toppled right near Sun Lake, the apartments I just mentioned Ric and I lived at back in 2005.
How's Ric? Haven't seen any update on his Facebook page and if he had power, which he likely doesn't since news is saying folks there have, of course, major outages, he would post on there. I'm sure he's okay. I'll keep you updated.
EDIT: He posted a totally unrelated comment on his Facebook wall later in the afternoon. No mention of the storm or anything if he was affected by power outage. Nada. Classic Ric though. Oblivious if it doesn't actually affect him directly. Remember when I called him just before noon on September 11th, 2001 and wanted to talk about the attacks. He was like "Oh some customers on the phones were saying something about something happening in New York. What do I care. I'm on lunch I have to get back to work, I can't talk right now." Of course he'd be soon taking the rest of the day off work since his bosses weren't so callous but, well, Ric is Ric.
