There's been a bit said about the supposed potential risk of negative vision consequences with the use of Ozempic. It's all over the hysterical media. And, of course, social media being what it is, you have everyone in a tizzy about it.
But how many actual cases are there of people reporting negative side effects regarding their eye health due to the use of semaglutide, the active ingredient in Ozempic?
I didn't really dig far to try to find out since much of the hype regarding these alleged destructive side effects seem to be accentuated or perpetuated by class action lawsuits and, of course, the lawyers representing them.
But, based on my own personal experience, as a user of Ozempic for the past year and a half or so, I can attest the opposite. I've actually experienced better vision. And, after a visit to an optometrist yesterday, it was confirmed that in fact, my prescription for corrective lenses has actually improved. I now require less of a strength for nearsightedness.
Not sure if it had any effect on myopia or the ability to read without corrective lenses which I've always been able to do but has become a bit more challenging as I've gotten older. And of course it didn't correct the astigmatism which I seem to still have, but I'm sitting here right now with my new contacts in my eyes and let me tell you I can see clearly better than I have literally in years.
Remember, I've been having to deal with the jankiness of messing around with my long distance glasses and readers making me look like a fool with them jockeying for position awkwardly on my nose together. No more of that.
The doctor confirmed that indeed blood sugar levels or medications that affect blood sugar levels like Ozempic can have an effect on vision. My only slight worry is is this temporary or permanent? And then the other concern would be, will this continue to advance in the direction it's going?
I mean, if I keep using Ozempic could I eventually cure my vision problems entirely? Would I be free of glasses and contacts for the first time since I was a teenager? Would I be able to frolic and run through the fields and see the butterflies in all their beauty with naked eyes? Or maybe it just wouldn't stop and I'd eventually develop X-ray vision and would be able to see through things? And then, before long, heat ray vision! Gamma ray vision!! All powerful "Bow before me, the Master of the World, Ye Mortals!" vision!!!"
Eh, Who am I kidding? With my luck, I should just be happy I'm not going blind.
