Shammy Election Center 2024 |
It's 7:08 pm and we're in for a long and bumpy night!
7:55 pm Pundits are saying that Florida results are a possible portend of things to come for tonight as Harris is underperforming Biden's numbers from 2020 in the Democratic majority counties by significant numbers, including losing Miami-Dade to Trump. The thought is the Hispanic voters are in force pro-Trump. The shock isn't that Trump wins Florida, this we knew; it's that the Latino vote is so strong in his favor even in areas where they traditionally voted Democratic. Will this trend carry over across to the swing states? James Carville is worried.
8:32 pm Heck, even Jimi the Hobo is having Firesales and doing a live stream from a cheap motel room for tonight's election coverage to his decidedly MAGA fans.
8:47 pm Let's check out a very liberal channel, David Packman...Oh oh. He's worried too.
8:51 pm
Breaking News....This just in....George Washington has just been projected the winner....
Oh sorry, that report was from some 236 years, and a hell of a lot of class and competence ago.
PTSD from 2016. Any more of that bottle of Xanax left Vanessa?
2020 Flashback...Here's the map from that race, we'll watch how tonight compares...
9:44 pm The map so far:
Donna Brazile keeps using a metaphor of the blue voters comin' out and dancing the boogie woogie to put her girl in the White House. Hmm. Okay.
11:20 pm This dude's looking tired already. Oh man, we just beginning, dude...
Here's my county results, by the way...
11:40 pm All the dem pundits at all the networks I'm watching looking a little more glum as North Carolina goes Trump. Here's CBS's map touchers. They all have map touchers. BTW CBS, all others have nice 4K cameras in their newsrooms, what's your problem?
Midnight. It's really coming down to the Blue Wall. Will it hold back the Red Wave? Or will it crumble?
12:34 am The crowd at Howard University, Harris HQ, is starting to leave.
12:38 am
12:40 am Georgia goes to Trump. Barring Virginia, he takes the entire South.
12:45 am Harris campaign co-chair announced to crowd gathered at her HQ that she won't be addressing them tonight and they immediately disperse. Shades of the Javits Center and Hillary's campaign in around the same time at night back in 2016.
12:50 am Look at Donna Brazile tensely sitting there as her panel-mate Reince Priebus smugly calls out Kamala Harris for being cowardly for not appearing tonight and saying her loss is a result of her amateur performance. The network then went to an extended break. I bet there was bloodshed.
Note: I'm basically flipping back and forth between CBS, NBC, and ABC's respective YouTube Channels as well as Amazon Prime Video's streaming special Brian Williams coverage. CNN and FOX aren't easily available since they hang out either behind an invasive demand for an Ad Block restriction (FOX) which I will not agree to or their own website (CNN) which doesn't play well with the multi-tab style I'm employing.
1:10 am Chris Christy says "Blub blub blub, blub blub blub, blub blub." Basically, that's fatspeak for, "Oh well, in two years Trump will be a lame duck but until then, he'll have unbridled power."
BTW, my vote for best looking set tonight between the broadcasters goes to the Brian Williams show on Amazon Prime Video...gorgeous!
1:40 am Many people on X are tweeting that Trump has hit 270 and has won. The networks I'm watching haven't called it yet...officially, but they're all talking as if it has. Just waiting for the official from the traditional networks...
Here's a retweet of a FOX call that Trump takes Pennsylvania. If the other networks agree soon, this would be pretty much it...
2:06 am ABC, NBC and CBS call PA for Trump
So much red...
2:27 am Trump addresses his MAGAs, albeit with quite a raspy and tired voice.
2:52 am After rambling on and on about a Golden Age of America and Elon Musk's shiny rocket getting soiled by flames and looking like a "space age" thing, keeping an important guy on hold on the phone for 45 minutes, calling up random people including JD Vance, saying he will let RFK Jr. heal the country but he can't touch the oil, then some teleprompter reading, not one word about his opponent at all then he finally wraps it up to strains of, of course, his gay anthem YMCA.
3:30 am OMG networks! They're still holding back from calling it. They're all saying it's pretty much mathematically there but they seem to be reticent to just let it go and embrace reality. I'm tired. I want to go to bed. It's not 2016. I'm not working a 3rd shift job and wide awake like I was then at this time of the night.
4:30 am They still refuse to call it. I'm too tired, I'm going to bed.
EDIT: 8:50 am Woke up, checked phone, turns out the networks called it just about half an hour after I went to bed.
