My Two Cents On This

I think it's interesting that more than a few years ago I predicted that the pendulum that was swinging so effortlessly in favor of LGBTQ acceptance would eventually, like all pendulum swings, start to turn against the community and gain momentum perhaps towards a renewed acceptance, if not outright praise, for overt homophobia. History has shown over the ages this pattern time and time again.

So it seems that the most recent straw that broke the camel's back and signaled the full out swing of the pendulum against the advances in the 2000s and the tens, is this whole Bud Light Dylan Mulvaney row.

For a couple months now I've been seeing the momentum build. First it was Bud Light, then other brand names, criticized and boycotted by not only the Uber right but also it seems some moderates. And then there are just the everyday sheeples that follow their parties line without nary thought.

At first it was all directed towards in your face transwomen like Dylan Mulvaney who seem to have more of a militant message along with their gender identity choices Proclamation. Now it seems like a huge number of people who have been holding back animosity towards all LGBTQ persons, ie. closet homophobes, are full out, coming out of the woodwork.

I recently saw a YouTube video where some dude goes into Target criticizing the Pride Month display of pro-LGBTQ products, wearing a t-shirt that says MASA, standing for Make America Straight Again.

Here's my take on all of this. I knew since same-sex marriage was effectively legalized by the Supreme Court years ago, and especially as it happened under the reign of a liberal president who even celebrated that milestone by illuminating the White House with rainbow colored flood lights, that this would all come back to bite us.

And here we now are feeling the first nibbles.

With 2024 around the corner, I don't think we're seeing the last of this. And I don't think it will be a phase that will fade away. I actually think it's going to grow and become a defining aspect of the political landscape over the next couple years. DeSantis has already indicated his proclivities towards embracing this new anti-gay fervor with his Don't Say Gay agenda, and to compete, as he most assuredly will want to do, Trump will get in on the game too. Mark my word. Won't be long now before we see the burning of Pride Flags in the streets.

In fact, this very month, June, has for decades now been celebrated as Pride Month, but we're seeing a lot of Pride events either protested against or just simply cancelled.

What happens if an anti-gay president is elected next year and whips up a fervor, very much in the same vein of a certain German dictator, once again against gay people? Will I need to start sewing pink triangles onto my clothing? Or will they even bother with that, deciding it's better to just start shooting and ridding the world of faggotry once and for all?

Is there any hope to stop this very-potential dystopian future? Here's a little clip done by Sky News Australia or whatever these guys call themselves. It's always political, always American politics, and always very right wing. I almost never agree with these folks, but you know what, they had this guest in this clip that actually made sense. Maybe we should heed the information proposed here in order to arrest the momentum towards a new hysteria that none of us, I think, really want.
