So Jimi The Hobo seems to be back!
My viewing of the Jimi The Hobo videos offered on YouTube goes back a few years. Back when I too was contemplating living in my car, I found this similar white middle aged dude doing the same out west in New Mexico, posting videos of his day-to-day struggles.
But he always had a reason for why he couldn't just get a job and a cheap apartment. This, that and the other thing. I knew, it was alcohol. Sure enough, enough details made it into his videos to confirm this. Oh sure, he protested it was his recent divorce or his back injuries, whatever, but he made it known he likes a brewski or bottle of Scotch or two every now and then.
So his ultimate solution is to move overseas. He goes to Cambodia to teach English. That idea lasts about a month. He flies back and before long, decides to live in Mexico. This seems to fit his mojo. He loves Mexico.
He films his near-homeless exploits in Tijuana gaining a lot of new viewers who, subsequently, provides him with just enough donations to get along in the cheaper lifestyle.
Then, apparently, one of his female subs hits him up and becomes his girlfriend. Now she herself has a lot of social issues and though she is amply suited in her job and finances to support him fully, starts to demand he curtail his YouTube streaming. He supplies us with a few months more of videos showcasing his decadent job-free, apparently gigalo life, now staying in Puerto Vallarta, but soon goes silent. His girlfriend Heilika has snuffed his voice.
But, around the start of 2021, he's showing his exploits in getting back to the US in order to, as he says, eventually hook up with his GF in her adopted home of Canada (she herself an immigrant from Latvia) and "someone" mysteriously calls the border control in British Columbia and informs them Jimi has past criminal activity. They deny him entry and he's stranded in small-town northern Washington State.
He makes his way back to Mexico and then starts a whole series of videos highlighting how he broke up with his girlfriend and sinks so low as to do demeaning tasks to entertain viewers just for donations. He brakes down in one video in a cheap TJ hotel room and says he wants to kill himself.
Somehow, he eventually gets back together with Heilika, his GF, and they spend the next few months hopping from one Airbnb to another in Puerto Vallarta. Then they brake up again and he moves back to the US saying he'll get a job, but eventually moves back to Mexico and starts to room with another YouTube American streamer in Rosarito, not far from TJ. He seems situated well for a few months, then, suddenly, nothing. We hear from him in occasional tiny clips that he's back in PV. Turns out, he was back in the clutches of his GF and she was taking care of him there with the provisdo that he stop streaming.
Lo and behold, I found out that just a few weeks ago, after about 6 months of radio silence, he is free again and posting vids, now as a free man in TJ. He plans on coming back and living on the street later this week as his GF has cut him off and he has no money.
Oh but will the drama subside? Will Jimi find a nine-to-five, settle down to a boring life and deny us his rambunctious adventures?
Nah. It'll be quite the spectacle! And I'm totally for it!
