What's It All About, Alfie?

So I'm currently in quite the existentialist funk.

I finished up a full month of turking and I made an amazing $305.04. I say amazing because even supposed "expert" turkers on YouTube admit to making only an average of about $50 a week. Decidedly just a side gig at best. Some boast "living earnings" of over $300 a week on average. They state it's a must to use helper scripts that assist in finding HITs quickly and qualifying for the higher paying HITs. I tried the scripts and frankly I found myself fucking around more with operating them than just searching myself. No matter who's telling fibs, and for whatever reason, I worked many hours a day last month to make what I did. Hint: It comes out to way less than minimum wage.

On the lawsuits front, as I mentioned in the last post, I opted to take that one to trial and I got an email a few days ago scheduling it for mid-August. One a bad note though, I also received word from the 2 BOA suits: They're asking for production, interrogatories and admissions. These are part of the "discovery" process in their prep for making their case in court. Basically, they're asking me to provide proof that I don't owe the debt to them. And, unlike the other suits, this is "them" meaning the original creditor, Bank of America. (Remember back in my early Veruca Reports how thrilled I was to get such a hefty credit limit from them?) Unlike the "answers" to the initial summons, I can't be vague now. Got to show and tell. And I got nothin', of course. Their timeline for this is 30 days from receipt so before the end of June.

All this shit got me remembering the beginning of Koyo back in 2002. There are so many similarities. I was playing all out ostrich head in the sand like I am now and it came up real fast to bite me hard. I was even putting a timeline of events together using the only tool I have from back then to this day, Microsoft Money. (I hadn't yet started the blog in '02) I've been diligently using this tool for over 20 years and have sooooo much financial history. I was scanning entries in an old checking account register in this tool and I saw that soon after September 16th I bought something from a site called marketingresources.net for $39.95. I tried to look it up, the site no longer exists. I checked it out in the Internet Archives Wayback Machine for September 2002 and lo and behold it was a website offering access to "thousands" of surveys that you can make anywhere from $10 to $100 dollars each doing. Ya, How the fuck did I fall for this. It was a scam of course. So is Amazon mTurk that far off? Like then, I have the immediate pressing desire to work from home on my time and at my pace and I'm blinding myself with wishful thinking. You'd have thought I'd learned my lesson. But this is quintessential "me." I'm always looking for the fast and easy buck. And I suppose I'll never learn.

One final comment as to the existentialism of it all, timely making an appearance in my mailbox as if "the universe" was trying to smack the message into my thick skull...

I got this in the mail yesterday:

"Buy Now and Die Later! Free Gift!"

Whether it's WALMART or your coffin, you're gonna end up in a box, bitch!
